A POTTED HISTORY

Sophia and Dominic Krzeczunowicz, the sister and brother team running  Silwood Park Nurseries, have been providing flowers and plants for countless events for over 30 years - Sophia leading the floral designs and Dominic the tree and plant displays.

Silwood was started by their grandparents Colonel Kornel, Countess Helena Krzeczunowicz and cousin Count Teddy Losz in 1947.  After the Second World War they were unable to return to their Native Poland and set about creating the family business.  The business  was continued by their son Alex and his wife Ineke from the early 1960’s.

In time they built up the nurseries, excelling in market gardening and growing, specialising in Lily of the Valley. They become one of Britain’s foremost suppliers, even supplying Lily of the Valley flowers to the Royal Family, including HRH Princess Anne’s wedding bouquet in 1972.

Silwood also accumulated a wealth of experience in floral decoration moving more and more into the emerging corporate and sporting event sector.

From the 1960’s onwards, Silwood attained many event contracts such as Ascot Racecourse (from 1967), Wimbledon Tennis Championships (from 1972), Goodwood Racecourse, Henley Regatta, The Open Golf and many other leading Golf tournaments.

As well sporting events, Silwood has delivered flower displays, trees and plants across a diverse selection of activities, including Buckingham Palace garden parties, London Livery Halls, historic houses and museums, exhibitions, TV & films, private banqueting events, marquees, weddings and parties.

THE SILWOOD TEAM

The Alchemy of Creation requires a team of fabulous florists and designers working behind the scenes.  Together we are the creators, the flower architects, the colourists, the imaginators and originators.  An indispensable team of truly wonderful people, some of whom have been at Silwood for over 20 years, working tirelessly with us to create, make and maintain.

Silwood wouldn’t be Silwood without all of them.
